FIGSxINDIA

One of the most common questions I get is: “How did you begin working with FIGS?” It was always a dream of mine to work with a company that serves the same purpose as mine; to expand access to incredible healthcare globally. However, I never EVER in a million years thought I would be lucky enough to work with FIGS.

In the span of just a year, FIGS has completely changed my life. They have changed the way I view my profession and the teams that I work with, they have given me a support system of medical professionals that teach me how to give myself the grace and love I deserve, and they have shown me that it doesn’t matter how small you are…you can still make an impact in this huge world.

I can go on and on about my love for FIGS, but I think at this point you all get it. The love is real and as far as I am concerned, FIGS and I are in this for the long haul.

THREADS FOR THREADS

For every pair of FIGS purchased, a pair is donated. In addition to delivering medical care, part of this mission was to bring these donated FIGS to India. FIGS donated over 100 pairs of scrubs to the Project C.U.R.E. hospital located in Manipur, India.

This hospital didn’t necessarily “need” FIGS. Heck, the healthcare professionals in Manipur didn’t even know who or what FIGS were. FIGS’ mission is to give back to the healthcare professionals that give back to others on the daily at the expense of themselves. To FIGS, wearing the best scrubs shouldn’t be restricted to a zip code or socioeconomic class. Everyone deserves to feel the pride and confidence that inevitably comes with putting on a pair of FIGS scrubs. And after going on two medical missions with donated FIGS, I have witnessed this immediate transformation from FIGS. The joy FIGS brings is palpable and contagious.

FIGS has a way of bringing everyone together. Seeing everyone in their FIGS immediately established a sense of unity. With every new set of FIGS came the biggest smiles. People are proud to wear their FIGS scrubs! They look good, they feel good, and they make you want to do more good!

THE FIGS TEAM

This trip would not have been possible without the incredible and dedicated FIGS team, both in India and in the US. However, I would like to highlight the FIGSxIndia team since I worked so closely (probably too closely at times) with them.

So much went on behind the scenes on this trip. As a whole, the FIGS team prioritized the FIGS providers (myself and the other medical professionals) before themselves. We came first so that our patients could come first.

While we were triaging, treating, and helping our patients they were (unsolicited) grabbing us water, snacks, and telling jokes to motivate us. There is absolutely no way we could have accomplished what we did without them.

From the gorgeous India binder that had EVERYTHING we could ever need inside of it to the obscene amount of snacks packed in a duffel bag that looked like a human body…I thank you from the bottom of my heart Jenny, Allison, Mary, Sam, and Dustin. We could NOT have done this mission without you all.

Additionally, thank you to Trina and Heather who created FIGS. Your vision is taking over hospitals and now the world. Thank you for letting me be a part of this life changing vision.
