Every Easter, my family gets together at my grandparent’s home in Santa Barbara. This year’s gathering was more precious than most. By some miracle, my grandparent’s home survived the Montecito fires and subsequent mudslides. The home across the street from them did not make it and some of their friends lost their lives. My grandparents have been evacuating from December to March. Someone was looking down on them and my family, and we are so grateful.
My grandparents are members at the Birnam Wood Country Club. Every Easter, we enjoy a brunch feast together.
The weekend was filled with playing hearts, eating and laughing too much, and playing games outside. Age doesn’t exist with family time. We embrace being young at heart and making the most of our time together.
Nothing beats family time. These moments are so precious and easy to overlook. The thought that this Easter may have not happened made this one so special.
